4/29/2008 Slo-Pitch SPN Insurance Roster Form Now Due For all Sport & Recreation Spring Slo-Pitch league teams, the first page of the SPN Insurance / Roster form is now due (Week #3)and must be submitted to the Parkinson Rec. Centre or the Sport Kelowna Office (Rutland Arena). Photocopies are not accepted as the original form and signatures are required for insurance registration.

4/16/2008 Sport & Rec. Slo-Pitch Leagues Facility Zero Tolerance Alcohol Rules Please note that the consumption of alcohol in a non-licensed public place is illegal and will be treated as such for the purposes of the Sport & Recreation Slo-Pitch League. Teams found or reported bringing alcohol into a licensed facility (Mission Softball Complex) or consuming alcohol at any of the other sports fields used for Sport & Rereation Leagues will forfeit their game (1st incident) and will be removed from the league without refund if additional incidents occur. As violations of these rules jeopardize the Mission Softball Complex License, staff at the facility have the right to stop games (turn out the lights) and expel teams from the facility. The facility includes all parking areas. Please note that players found under the influence of alcohol during their games run the risk of forfeiting their insurance coverage.

2/21/2008 Okanagan 24 Hour Relay IT’S TIME TO SIGN UP FOR 24 HOURS OF FUN & FUNDRAISING AT THE OKANAGAN 24 HOUR RELAY.
WHAT: The 24 Hour Relay For The Kids is Okanagan’s only annual 24 hour fundraiser where teams run or walk relay-style around the Apple Bowl Stadium and the Parkinson Recreation Fields, in Kelowna. At the same time they groove to live music, play on-site games, participate in a volleyball tournament, camp overnight, and consume lots of food and fluid. There’s nothing else like it and you won’t want to miss it, so get a team together and get registered now.
WHY: You’ll have the time of your life and at the same time give Okanagan children the time of theirs by helping to send them to camp this summer. All funds raised stay in the Okanagan to go to support the Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs’ programs and camps, as well as the BC Lions Society’s Easter Seals Camp Winfield for children with disabilities.

11/1/2007 Tim Frick Presentation - Excellence in Coaching Tim Frick presented "Excellence in Coaching" at the Okanagan Sport Leadership Conference on Oct 20th. Tim Frick is the "winning-est" coach in women's wheelchair basketball and the only coach in Canada to win a gold metal at the World Championships or Olympic Games in basketball, able-bodied or wheelchair. In his 30 years of coaching, Tim has had a positive impact on the lives of thousands of athletes and was instrumental in the planning and implementation of the Rick Hansen Man in Motion Tour. Tim Frick's presentation can be accessed by QuickTime Player. This file is in a multi-media container format designed by apple, using their own propriety compression technology, which is used to store video and audio files. With Slo-Pitch Softball continuing to grow in popularity, there are more and more slo-pitch bat manufacturers developing new products every year. However just because it maybe be sold at your local sports shop does not mean it is a "legal" to use bat. Slo-Pitch National follows the American Softball Associations guidelines for legal and illegal bats and provides online lists of both legal and illegal slo-pitch equipment.
